Entertainment for the Penny Pincher

You love to have fun; want to have fun this summer. Problem is, money is tight and you have little idea of how you’re going to enjoy your summer without it.

The good news is that you’re not alone in this request. Folks from around the globe are cutting back, and this includes anything expensive they really can’t afford.

So what are they doing?

  • Vacationing close to home. What have you always wanted to see in your home town but have never managed to get around to doing? Do that.
  • Attending outdoor concerts. Especially in the summer, many outdoor concerts provided by the city won’t cost you a cent.
  • Dining at unexpected places. Instead of eating at a restaurant, eat out in your back yard, at a park or at an outdoor event.
  • Sharing with their neighbors. Instead of purchasing an expensive electronic gadget alone buy one and take turns using it. This also goes for being a part of a rental condo or other shared property investment.
  • Using coupons. Watching sales. Experiencing consignment shops for the first time. Saving money can be addictive.
  • Spending time being a kid. When was the last time you played hopscotch or four-square? When was the last time you drew on the sidewalk or played hide and seek with your kids? Freak them out by joining in.

Your summer doesn’t have to be drudgery even if you have little or no money. Have fun without it by enjoying the ideas above or coming up with your own.
